We did it! Impeachment supporters are celebrating in Takoma Park, MD!
Dear Takoma Park impeachment supporters,
This is a special note to everyone who came to the July 23d Takoma Park City Council meeting: thank you so much for your presence, your eloquence, and your support at that meeting. The mayor has let us know, that it is we the citizens of Takoma Park, who made it happen.
We’ve written about the meeting, of course, on our blog — “ Impeachment resolution approved, improved.” You’ll find a link there to a Fox 5 news item about the vote; the report, by Roz Slater, was both detailed and fair, and we think made both Takoma Park and the impeachment vote look very good. A Washington Post article by Dan Morse was also very good.
As you know, the improvements to the resolution, by Councilman Terry Seamens, call on Takoma Park residents to call Chris Van Hollen (202-225-5341) and urge him to support impeachment resolutions like Kucinich’s H.Res. 333 calling for Cheney’s impeachment. Please take a moment right now and do so! Then let us know how it went at “Callin’ Van Hollen .” It also calls on the county council and the state legislature to follow Takoma Park’s lead, and we’re now in touch with some politicians in both legislative bodies about just that — more as this develops.
