Unconventional Wisdom

We are a group of MD residents who have joined forces to stop the madness that is the Bush Administration before it’s too late. “Conventional wisdom” dictates that we must endure almost two more years of warfare, deception and abuse in order to avoid “rocking the boat.” We value instead Unconventional Wisdom. We believe that if we do not take a stand against the tyranny, murder and corruption coming from the White House, we risk losing the very foundations on which our country was built.

Defend the Constitution. Work for Impeachment.

On July 23, 2007 the Takoma Park, MD City Council passed a resolution calling on Congress to impeach Bush and Cheney. In doing so, we over eighty other municipalies in the country that have passed similar resolutions, sending a message to Congress and the country at large to rein in our power-hungry President and Vice President by using our constitutionally mandated power of impeachment. Every city in MD CD 8 can do what Takoma Park did. Montgomery county council can pass a resolution too. Valerie Ervin has already agreed to sponsor a resolution but the entire council needs to hear from their constituents now.

We need volunteers to help with outreach. One of the things that helped our resolution pass was our constant presence in Takoma Park, selling green and white “Impeach Them” yard signs, collecting petition signatures, and handing out cards for people to call their councilmembers.

We need more people to cover more ground. Now we are asking people to call Congressman Chris Van Hollen (202-225-5341) and also their councilmember if they live in Montgomery County. We need lots more people on the streets to cover all of Maryland’s Congressional District 8, so drop us a line if you can help at md8impeach@gmail.com.

Congress needs to hear from you.

According to the Constitution, an impeachment must begin in the House of Representatives. If you want an impeachment, you need to contact your House Representative and let them know! To find out who your Representative is and contact him or her go here

It only takes a minute to make the call. Tell the person who answers that you are a constituent and that you would like your Representative to support impeachment. You might even suggest that they cosponsor H. Res 333, a bill in the current Congress to impeach the Vice President.

If you live in Maryland or DC come join us at one of our weekly meetings at Savory Cafe in Takoma Park. Our Next meeting is Monday, November 5th at 7:30PM. We are currently working on a resolution for Montgomery County, media outreach, and of course Callin’ Van Hollen.
